There is something about westerns that makes them the perfect movies, probably because they are never boring. They can be dumb, over the top, silly and anything else you would like to call them, but they are never boring. There is always something going on and there is always someone to cheer for. There is a very good reason why this movie is considered one of the classic movies and that is the fact that it is simply stunning. The interaction between the three main characters (especially Eastwood and Wallach) is done so well, as well as the numerous gunfights and different twists that you will not feel bored for a second. IT also has one of the most recognizable soundtracks of all times with the main theme that has become the part of the culture. It is funny how an Italian director working with European crews in Spain could bring the Old West so vividly to the silver screen.
The Ox-Bow incident is one of the most unorthodox westerns of all times, but it is also one of the finest ones ever made. It is one of the most modern westerns ever made, even though it was done when Henry Fonda was still a young actor. 
It features a story about a lynch mob who is out for blood and who are mostly debating whether they should hang two guys who they think stole some horses. It is one of the most tense and one of the darkest Hollywood movies ever made and a proof that western movies are not only about guns and gunfights.
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance is yet another western movie that feels very modern even when it is viewed today. Some critics have said that it is one of the most important movies in the history of Hollywood and that it just might be the best political movie that Hollywood has ever produced. Our opinion is that it is a true part of American history and a movie that explains a lot about this country. It feels fresh and relevant even today, 50 years after it was made. It also features one of the best performances by the Duke, John Wayne.
