In this article, we will share some of the favorite war movies for use from Divx Codec Advice blogsite.

It goes almost without saying that Apocalypse Now is the best war movie for us, as is for most other people. What separates this movie from all the other similar movies is that it pulls you in like no other war movie can. After it is finished, you will feel as if you were in Vietnam, chasing Marlon Brando together with Martin Sheen. The atmosphere in Apocalypse Now is something unbelievable and you get the feeling of how the hell of Nam really looked. It is pure madness and a one in a million trip down the darkest places in the human mind. Also, with the divx codec, you will be able to see this Coppola’s masterpiece the way it was supposed to be seen.

The second movie on our list of favorite movies is not that well-known film and it comes to us from the good old Soviet Union, or more precisely from a Belarus director who has made this movie and never stood behind the camera ever since. The movie is called Come and See, or Idi I Smotri in original and it takes us to Belarus during the WWII and it shows us the story of a young boy who joins the local resistance and gets pulled in one of the Nazi raids which happened all the time in the Soviet Union during WWII. There, he witnesses the horrors of the war in their fullest sense and in the end he looks as if he had aged twenty years in those few days or so. It is one of the most devastating movies ever made and it gives the full picture of how horrible and destructive war can be.

Kelly’s Heroes is another favorite of ours here at Divx Codec Advice although it is more of a comedy than a war movie. It stars Clint Eastwood and Donald Sutherland, as well as Telly Savalas, playing American soldiers during WWII who go behind enemy lines in order to rob a bank which is held by the Germans. It is one of those movies that will have you laughing like a maniac from the beginning to the end, especially thanks to Mr. Sutherland who pulls off one of the craziest characters ever to operate a tank. It also has an amazing soundtrack.

Another war movie that does not come to us from Hollywood but which definitely deserves to be included here is Das Boot. It is a story about a German submarine during WWII and it shows us what it was like to be trapped in one of those huge cans during the bloodiest war in our history. It almost seems impossible that a German movie taking place almost exclusively on a submarine and lasting for over 3 hours can be one of the most exciting and nail-biting movies of all times, but it is. Many critics say that it is one of the best movies ever made and once you see it, you will see why that is.
